Top 3 Rookie Mistakes That Keep You From Getting Six Pack Abs
To get six pack abs, you need to develop your abs (using abs exercises) and you need to lose stomach fat. Abs exercises won’t help you lose stomach fat. To lose stomach fat, you need to expend more energy than you eat. To expend more energy than you eat, do interval training and lift weights.
Mistake #2: You perform only easy abs exercisesCan you do more than 20 sit-ups in a row? If you can, it’s time you either upgrade your sit-ups, or pick harder exercises. Bodybuilders and exercise scientists have known for a long time that the best repetition range to build muscle (including abdominal muscles) is 8-12. In other words, if you can do more than 12 repetitions of your favorite abs exercise, it’s too easy. Upgrade it.
Mistake #3: You pause between repetitionsWhen you work out your abs, do you pause between repetitions? Since many abs exercises are done on the floor, rookies often rest their upper back and head on the ground between each repetition. This relaxes their abs, and basically defeats the whole purpose of training them. When you work out your abs, do not rest your upper back and head on the floor between repetitions. That will force your abs to stay tight throughout the exercise, and will help them grow into a six pack.

In fact, this book is so popular, it ranks #1 on ClickBank’s list. That means it’s the best-selling abs book on the Internet, period. Is it worth your money? In this review, you’ll find out what the book is about and how to avoid a big mistake in the book’s abs training programs.
The Truth About Abs’ Big SecretHere’s what it’s all about… Right at the beginning of the book, and throughout its 149 pages, author Mike Geary hammers this point home: to get well-defined abs, abs exercises are not your best option. What he recommends is eating well and exercising hard.
To this end, his book has a section on:
nutrition (pg. 7-51) that includes varied meal plans for 12 different days; abs training (pg. 52-79) that shows and explains 26 abs exercises organized into an 8-level program;weightlifting (pg. 84-130) that shows and explains 24 weightlifting exercises organized into a 7-level weightlifting program. The remainer of the book (pg. 131-149) contains various lean-body tips (on stress, sleep, hydration, organic foods, and more).
Big Mistake in The Truth About AbsHere’s the #1 problem with The Truth About Abs: if you follow its 8-level abs program, as you get more experienced, you’ll do progressively longer sets. Here’s its level 8 program:

1 More Fat-Burning Snack Idea
Wild smoked salmon with fresh basil leaves and avocado on cucumber slices! Even throw a couple capers on there if you're into that.
So simple... yet a perfect late night snack since it's mostly good quality protein, healthy fats, and a vegetable. It's also a great healthy appetizer if you have guests over.
Just make sure to choose WILD smoked salmon since farmed salmon meat is not as healthy due to the feed that the salmon are given, throwing the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio out of whack.
Enjoy!

Remember that you get the entire series of video tutorials, plus you also get the killer bonus section that I threw in detailing all of the crazy tactics I used to go from 10.2% body fat down to 6.9% body fat in only 23 days recently while prepping for a photo shoot...

Delicious New Fat-Burning Healthy Snack
I happened to be mostly out of food last week and hadn't made it to the grocery store yet, so I thought of this really super-quick and super-healthy snack idea based on a few random things I had laying around the house...
I threw a couple things together really to just get a quick snack to satisfy my appetite, but I turned out LOVING this little fat-burning recipe!
What I did was throw about 1 tbsp of virgin coconut oil in a skillet and started heating it. Then I sliced up an apple and diced the apple into cubes and threw it into the coconut oil to soften up in the skillet.
Then I just added some cinnamon (a super-potent antioxidant) to the mix and threw in a handful of chopped pecans and some organic raisins and tossed the mixture around in the pan for about a minute to let everything soften up.
After that, I cracked open 1 whole egg and dropped the egg into the mix and quickly scrambled it around to mix into the apple, nuts, and raisins. I really only added the egg because I wanted to get a little extra protein and healthy fats, but it turned out to be a great addition to this recipe!
After about 30 more seconds of scrambling the mix around, the egg had cooked a bit, and the apples and raisins were soft, and it was ready.
I gotta tell ya... this was an incredible (and healthy) snack! It really satisfied my appetite and only took about 2-3 minutes to make.
I loved it so much that I ended up making this as my mid-day "mid-meal" almost every day last week between lunch and dinner.
Hope you enjoy it if you give it a try!
Just to recap, this was all that was involved in this healthy snack:
1 egg
1 apple
1 handful of chopped pecans
a small handful of organic raisins
a hefty sprinkle of cinnamon
1 tbsp of virgin coconut oil (healthy fat source)

How to Build Lean "Hybrid" Muscle
In the world of bodybuilding, you may know that the classic method of building muscle and losing fat has always been "bulking and cutting", where you separate the 2 goals into different time periods and train and eat vastly different during each period.
This new program below involves losing fat and building muscle without the typical "bulking and cutting" cycles.
There's really some interesting stuff in this program. It focuses on the concept of maximizing the potential of your Type-IIC muscle fibers (nicknamed Type III fibers)... and their research led them to a type of "hybrid" workout program that would help to maximize these "hybrid" muscle fibers.
I will say that this is more geared towards those of us that are into more advanced training methods or things that are a little more hardcore... It sort of has a good "warrior" flair to the program, which I like...
so if you're a beginner and don't have much experience with weight training, this won't be for you.
But if you like trying new and unique styles of training, give this a shot...

A Late-Night Craving-Busting Healthy Snack
Basically, what I do is make my own mixture of raw almond butter mixed with raw pecan butter (I get both of these at a local health food store, or at Whole Foods).
I mix the 2 nut butters together in a tupperware container, and also mix in a hefty dose of cinnamon (a super-antioxidant), a touch of real maple syrup just to give it a hint of sweetness (or a little stevia), and a couple scoops of an extra fiber source (I've used rice bran, which adds a little nutty crunchy texture that I like).
Make sure the almond butter and pecan butter is at room temperature so that it's easy to mix and stir. I just mix these ingredients together well in the container, throw it in the fridge, and then each night when I feel the need for a little snack, I just take a couple spoonfuls of this tasty mix and it instantly satisfies my appetite.
You get tons of nutrition without boatloads of calories... and a good source of protein and healthy fats with a decent shot of fiber too.
Plus, it's pretty delicious, and blows away plain old boring peanut butter any day! Give it a shot as long as almonds and pecans are not an allergy for you.
Enjoy!

Overeat during the holidays and still lose fat?
I'm sure that you're like me and don't want to be lumped under that "most people" category. In fact, as you have probably read in some of my writings in the past, strategic overeating can actually be used to trick your body into getting leaner.
Sounds crazy, but if you understand how to do it right, there's some real science to "controlled overeating".
As a matter of fact, I don't restrict myself at all at Thanksgiving and I totally pig out each year. But I've learned how to manipulate calories and macronutrients throughout the week to actually get leaner despite these pig-out events.
Plus, a fun bonus is that your workouts on the day AFTER holiday feasts can actually be some of your best and strongest workouts!
As long as you're not pigging out every day, the once or twice per week holiday parties that you'll go to this holiday season can actually play into your favor for getting leaner, IF you do the right things the rest of the week.
Well, one of my good friends in the industry, Joel Marion, is re-releasing his Cheat Your Way Thin program, as the CYWT Holiday edition... and in celebration of the first official "cheat day" of the holiday season - Thanksgiving -- Joel is having a 52%-off sale on the CYWT Holiday edition:

Overeating to burn fat faster?
Below is an interview I did with Joel Marion to help answer some of the questions regarding strategic overeating to stimulate fat loss.
Q&A - Strategic Overeating During the Holidays
Mike: There's been a lot of buzz going around lately regarding your Cheat Your Way Thin program, but let's go back to the beginning. How did you come up with the whole Cheat Your Way Thin anyway?
Joel: In 2003, a week full of dietary screw-ups actually got my fat loss wheels turning after several weeks of sitting in park. It was pretty crazy. I had two big "cheat" episodes with stuff like pasta, pizza, and ice cream and ultimately ended up losing more fat and weight that week than I had in the entire three weeks prior following a ridiculously strict dietary regimen.
I knew there was something to it as I'd noticed this before. I'd always lose fat faster when allowing myself to indulge from time to time. At the time it made absolutely no sense to me, but I was curious. So I started researching what goes on in the body when we diet and what happens when we overeat. That was really how it all began.
From there it's been a ton of additional research and constant revision of the program based on working with clients and exploring what happens in the real world. (My "perfected" approach, which is the program in the book, really is nothing like what I advocated initially back in '03.) The end result is an ideal blend of research, theory, and what actually happens in real life with real people.
Mike: Very interesting. So people just eat a large pizza and a bowl of ice cream and before they know it they'll have a flat stomach? It never quite worked that way for me...
Joel: It would be nice, wouldn't it? But no, cheating itself, especially high frequency cheating (you know, when every day is a cheat day), isn't what's going to get you into phenomenal shape, but rather the strategic implementation of regular cheating into an ideal diet and exercise program that will, and that's essentially what I outline in the program.
Mike: Okay, so how do you set up the rest of the days around the cheat days then?
Joel: That's the most important part to making things work. The research has shown carbohydrate to be the macronutrient most highly correlated with leptin levels (the hormone that keeps us out of "starvation mode", so we manipulate carbs quite a bit in between cheat days.
After a cheat day, when leptin levels are high, we can get away with a low-carb approach (and that will actually yield some really nice, quick fat loss), but we don't want to hang out there too long because our friend leptin gets upset and starts doing things to piss us off.
So how do we keep him happy? By adding more carbs. And we strategically keep adding them, manipulating the macro breakdowns and types of carbs every couple days leading up to the next leptin-surging cheat day. By manipulating carbs this way, we play into leptin and can keep hormone levels elevated even when not cheating.
Mike: And you said strategic exercise is an important part of the recipe, too?
Joel: Yeah, high intensity interval training is big, especially right after a cheat day. Appropriately timed high intensity cardio can actually triple the effectiveness of the program.
Mike: Although I'm right there with you on the use of strategic cheating, I really believe things like trans-fat and high fructose corn syrup should never be eaten, even on cheat days. Do your people have to eat things like donuts and French fries to get the leptin-boosting and fat burning effects?
Joel: Absolutely not.
The reason why things like french fries work extremely well is because they combine very high glycemic carbohydrates with fat. That combination right there breeds a massive surge of insulin, which believe it or not is exactly what we want to achieve on cheat days to reverse the negative physiological adaptations of dieting.
Truth is, you don't need to eat anything that contains trans fats at all, and I generally recommend people avoid them as well. That still leaves a huge amount of possibilities, like a big Italian feast (lasagna, pasta, bread and butter, etc), pizza, and other "natural" treats that are created in an extremely processed manner.
The key is following the rules of high carb/high fat/high calories

Did I lose my abs in Hawaii?
Just kidding... 2 nights on the town certainly can't add that much body fat, although I probably did a little bit of damage. Luckily the rest of week we spent in Hawaii was a little more athletic and active, so I was back to healthy eating and working out daily.
As you may know, in my 5 years of fitness publishing online, I've never felt the need to "show off" and have my sites plastered with shirtless pics. After all, I think the exercise pics in my book show that I keep in pretty good shape.
But a few people told me recently that I need to "prove" that I'm a good role model and truly live the healthy lifestyle that I preach. I tend to be a little camera shy which was another reason why I've never wanted to put shirtless pics all over my sites.
So, here's a recent pic I did, which I think turned out alright:

How to Trick Your Body into Losing Weight
I've been slacking a little on these newsletters over the past couple weeks with being so busy visiting friends and family for the holidays back on the east coast.
I was thinking about an important concept recently about why some people continually fail to get results while others make incredible changes in their body... for example, here's a fairly extreme example of 2 people that have not been able to motivate themselves to lose any weight over the past couple years, even though they say that this is VERY important to them...
What I did was present a 6-month challenge to 2 different people that are close to me back in June of this year to lose a specific amount of weight by Christmas...
I won't go into the details, but I even promised them a VERY special prize if they successfully reached their goal weight. This was something that was fairly significant and would have changed their lives, as well as giving them the confidence back in their bodies, and their health, which were both desperately important to them.
However, it turned out that they never even took action on any of this at all. Neither of them ever really even started on their journey, much less finished it.
This is quite shocking to me that 2 people who so desperately wanted to reach these goals, never even took any action from the very beginning... even though I had given them all of the tools they needed to be successful.
This is something that I think about as a fitness professional a lot... the fact that you can give somebody all of the methods that they need to be successful in weight loss without a doubt, and they fail to take action on anything.
Once again, this gets back to the point that success in anything in life, whether it's weight loss, muscle building, wealth, health, relationships, etc... it all starts in the mind, and if the mind is not ready to make it happen, it's not going to happen!
One program that I've been recommending to my clients to get their mind in order for permanent weight loss is a medical hypnotherapy program that a good friend of mine in the industry runs at this site:
http://FatLossHypnotherapy.com
This program may be the solution for those people that can't seem to stick to a plan, or can't seem to give up the junk foods no matter how hard they try.
STUDY SHOWED 146% INCREASE IN FAT LOSS RESULTS
A study published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology shows medical hypnosis does just that: Improves your weight loss results over the long term.
Their study found adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment. More importantly, medical hypnosis increased effectiveness AFTER treatment by over 146%.
If you've been struggling to get motivated to workout, or can't seem to stick to your healthy eating plan, this program just may do the trick with helping to make your mind force a change on your habits, and give you the body that you have been wanting.
Give it a try if this sounds like something exciting to take your fat loss to the next level:

Chocolate and red wine without the calories?
However, there are detriments too as chocolate is very calorically dense, and red wine contains the alcohol as well as a fair dose of calories itself. I can't say there's any detriments to unsweetened green tea.
The solution to these detriments is usually simply to eat chocolate and drink red wine in small doses. I've always said that one of my tricks to controlling my sweet tooth is to have 1 small square of super-dark chocolate after my meals.
I also usually try to stick to only 1-2 glasses of wine just a couple times a week.
However, by sticking to small doses, you minimize the benefits of the powerful antioxidants in red wine and chocolate.
But...
Chocolate & Red Wine Benefits WITHOUT the Calories & Alcohol?
What if there was a way to get MUCH higher doses of the active antioxidants in chocolate and red wine, but without the calories and alcohol?
One problem I've always read about with the research behind resveratrol is that you'd have to drink gallons upon gallons of red wine daily to get enough resveratrol to have significant benefits. This amount of alcohol would obviously kill someone, plus be a boatload of calories.
Turns out there IS a way to benefit from high doses of the active ingredients in chocolate and red wine but without the calories and alcohol!
As you know from most of my past writings, I'm VERY skeptical about most supplements, and there are only a few that I actually take myself and recommend to my readers.
My friend Buck (no, not Uncle Buck!) owns a very reputable supplement company... and YES, Buck IS a good friend of mine... we became good friends on a couple adventure trips I've gone with him over the past 2 years.
When I recommend a product from another company, and I say that they are a friend of mine, I actually DO mean it. After all, I usually only recommend products from people I know and trust, or that I've used myself and had a good experience with.
Well, Buck has a great product that uses a blend of resveratrol (the equivalent resveratrol per serving of approx 50 Liters of Pinot Noir!), a cocoa extract, a green tea extract, as well as L-carnosine, alpha lipoic acid, and a few others...
check it out -- http://www.EnjoyUltimateLifespan.com
Now although I've talked trash in the past about so many of these bogus supplement companies that are using this type of "free trial" model (many of them are very shady companies that aren't honest about their label claims), I do know personally that Buck's company is honest and will take care of you.
You can opt to take the trial and get on a monthly shipping plan, or you can opt to just purchase a few bottles up front and see how you like them.
Personally, I got a 6-month supply to stock up and I've been using them daily for about 2 months now.
If you want to get the benefits of red wine and chocolate (plus green tea and ALA) without the calories or alcohol, try this out:

1 chemical that might be making you gain fat
As you know from my past newsletters, I try to cover every topic that may be holding you back from getting the body you want... sometimes it's nutrition and superfoods, sometimes exercise-related topics, sometimes motivation. But...
Today, I want to point out a specific factor that many people are overlooking, and it could be FORCING your body to hold onto stubborn bodyfat...
-This is not about calories or carbs
-This is not about a specific workout
-This is not about a supplement or newfangled gimmickdiet
...it's about something called Neuropeptide Y (NPY)
A 1995 study found that 1 of the 4 major underlying factors causing obesity was high levels of NPY. It also found that NPY can stimulate your body to increase cravings and appetite, hence further contributing to weight gain.
NPY can even stimulate your body to increase the size AND number of fat cells... Now that's scary!
So what triggers your body to produce NPY, hence making you fatter?
...STRESS!
I know, I know...you've heard the lecture about stress a gazillion times by now...
and I've talked in my newsletters in the past and in my book about possible ways to help you reduce stress to help reduce the nasty chemical reactions inside your body that stress causes.
But today I have a really unique way that's very powerful in battling stress and helping you to lose excess body fat caused by stress and NPY...
it's actually an audio technique, and I even started using this myself about 2 years ago.
It's a CD that uses a technology called "Holosync", and it can help you to induce stress-busting meditation levels similar to that of a Zen Monk... but without the typical time commitment of normal meditation.
You can get a Free demo CD of this technology at this page:
http://www.centerpointe.com/freedemo/gea101
I don't get a dime by recommending this... it's just something that I've used myself, and I think it's a fairly fascinating technology. I talked directly with the company to make sure they were cool with me recommending this in my newsletter.
They were obviously excited to have me recommend their audio CDs, and they even went ahead and set up that page for you to get a free demo to try it out.
Besides reducing stress and levels of NPY, and hence, helping you to get leaner... the Holosync audio technology can also:
Sounds pretty exciting huh! It's not surprising since we already know that all success in every area of life originates in your brain, and that includes getting your best body.
You can try out the entire CD set, or just get the Free demo CD here:

Enjoy!

1 Advanced trick for stubborn abdominal fat
You may be "stuck" and can't seem to lose the last 5, 10, or 15 lbs of "stubborn" fat... well, this program is for you!
Here's the deal...
2 weeks ago, I was on a trip in the Bahamas hanging with a handful of my other fitness author friends, and I finally met one of NYC's top fitness trainers and fitness model, John Romaniello...
Hanging out with John over some drinks, he was filling me in on a unique style of training he's used with celebrities, athletes, and even regular moms, dads, and business execs to get them super-lean... even single-digit bodyfat lean!
Besides just being a funny dude (this guy cracks me up), I found out that John has perfected a specific type of program that combines 3 powerful training techniques (unknown to most) that work through strategic hormonal manipulation.
This technique stimulates your body to start burning off those last "stubborn" bodyfat stores that you can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard you try.
I just looked over this system myself and I can't wait to start trying this program!
John has just put this super-powerful technique together into a brand new program you can start using here:

More antioxidants than coffee?
You'll see what this is in the article below.
This article below was done by my partners at Prograde Nutrition (and nutrition researcher Jayson Hunter).
I thought it was interesting to note that conventional roasting of coffee destroys some of the important nutrients such as mannans and aribinogalactans.
But you can still benefit from these nutrients, as well as another even more potent source of antioxidants that is part of the coffee plant...
http://natural.getprograde.com/best-part-of-coffee-bean.html
Personally, I only drink coffee once or twice a week, because I don't want to become addicted to the caffeine (instead I choose various teas which have much lower caffeine content), so this is actually how I choose to benefit from some of the most potent antioxidants in coffee (even more antioxidants than several cups of coffee) without getting overdosed on caffeine.
Ok, I've gotta run... off to the gym to get a good workout in now!
Talk to you soon,

Get 6-pack abs without useless situps
Kareem even came out to visit me in Colorado for several days a couple months ago to hang out and do some skiing and other outdoor fun.
During his stay, I quickly realized that this guy knows more about exercise programming (as well as fixing injuries) than almost anybody I've known in the fitness industry.
I have an article today for you that Dr. K wanted to contribute (also be sure to check out Dr K's surprising story at the bottom)
The Fastest Way To Get A Six Pack Without Doing Any Sit-Ups
by Dr. Kareem F. Samhouri, CSCS, HFS
Metabolic Fat Loss & Fitness Expert
Sit-ups suck.
They're boring, they make it hard to breathe, and they are not nearly intense enough to get a great result. Think about it - when's the last time you couldn't get your 6th rep of a sit up?
They don't work muscular strength. They work muscular endurance (and over-shorten your abs) - most of us need more muscular strength, not endurance.
If muscular endurance were all we needed, then why does everyone on the Cat Walk of treadmills at your local gym look the same month after month after month?
Did you ever think about that before?
The same guys and gals running at 9mph, sweating their last drip of H2O away as they run at a continuous pace for 45 minutes never seem to change shape. They look the same in my gym as they do in yours. That's not because cardio is bad; that's because they have the wrong strategy in mind.
Do you have the right six pack abs strategy in mind?
Let's take Jenny Brown and Eric Foster for example:
Jenny Brown doesn't look very fat, but she's not happy with herself at all.
You see, she's never been really strong, and she's been struggling with her weight for years.
Her family is all heavier than she is. They don't seem to think there's an issue, and they keep eating her favorite foods in front of her. Each time she's tempted, she gets on an Elliptical or Treadmill and tries to 'burn off all the calories.'
In the first 3 weeks of doing this, she actually manages to lose half the weight she's been trying to lose for years - she loses 7.5 pounds - only another 7.5 to go.
3 more weeks go by, and now Jenny gets on the scale again - she weighs an extra pound.
"That's horrible," she thinks, as her pants all of the sudden feel tight and her shoulders slump. Now she decides her chest is saggy too, and she just feels ugly, but she keeps at it.
3 more weeks, down 2 pounds - she's now down 1 pound from her original amazing streak of wt loss.
Only thing, Jenny got fatter. She lost muscle. When we took her body fat measurement, now 9 weeks in, she went up by 2%. It's only a matter of time until Jenny puts all of her weight back on... while continuing to watch what she eats. This is a shame.
Ok, so how about Eric Foster?
Eric Foster is a former athlete, who used to run high school track and field. Since then, work got crazy (and so did drinking on the weekends), and he now weighs an extra 60 pounds.
He exercises for half the time Jenny does, but he basically only warms up,
then interval trains. Then he does a series of carefully planned out giant sets, challenging his body with new exercises every time he works out. Even though he feels uncoordinated half the time, and he isn't lifting all that much weight (in fact, because of his weight issue, he's basically down to mostly bodyweight without having the onset of low back pain.)
3 weeks go by - Eric's down 6 pounds - 54 pounds to go.
"Sweet" he says to himself, "I'm going to hit my goal in another 9 weeks.
I'll be there before summer."
3 more weeks go by, now he's down 12 pounds. "On pace," he says to himself.
3 more weeks go by (now on week 9), and he decides to step on the scale during a flex-break from staring at himself in the mirror.
"Oh my God," he exclaims - "I'm down another 9 pounds - how could this be?"
So Eric flew off to the local gym and had his body fat assessed - down 4%!
I know why Eric's down 9 more pounds & lost 4% body fat. He built muscle. That muscle kicked his metabolism into over drive, and his body started craving more food. He also chose exercises that helped 'organize' his nervous system & recruit more muscle. He fed his body, as most former athletes know to do, and it burned up all the calories and then some.
Eric's muscle raised his metabolism.
The dynamic exercise routine fooled Eric's body into thinking he needed more muscle to cope with "the challenging new environment" he lived in.
Jenny's plain old, boring exercise routine taught her body to cope with this increased demand by lowering her heart rate and blood pressure (both good things, granted) so she could last longer.
Obviously, Eric's body changed more and his program was more effective for fat loss.
The Moral Of The Story:
Eric just needed to know how to speak 'Neuro' and he was all set. Once he wasn't speaking gibberish to his body anymore, and he learned to have a conversation, the work was already done for him.
So what's the purpose of exercising so much if you're not going to look amazing after all that sweat and hard work?
In Double Edged Fat Loss, I teach you how to Exercise Less, Benefit More.
I hope you'll join me below for an Unusual Fat Loss Story as I unveil a story that puts Jenny & Eric's story to shame. As it turned out, it had nothing to do with Eric 'being a boy,' did it?

Does Microwaved Food Harm Your Health?
So is microwaved food safe for you and your family, or can it have negative health consequences? What about the long term health of your kids?
Well, if you think about it from just a simple logical perspective, our food was never meant in nature to be cooked by microwaves, so that will obviously detrimentally affect the chemistry and how it reacts inside your body.
Personally, I tossed my microwave in the garbage about 6 years ago and have never looked back. There's actually no need for it at all.
So today's article takes a look at some of the possible effects of eating microwaved food... this is a MUST read:
http://www.truthaboutabs.com/microwaves-are-evil.html
(if you read the article carefully, you'll even see that there is a possible link between microwaved food and increased abdominal fat)
Please email this link to all of your friends and family to help them avoid the possible health dangers of eating microwaved food.

The healthiest new fast food option
I try to stay far far away from places like mickey d's or BK... I think I've only had them once or twice in the past 2-3 years.
But I've found a much healthier fast food option recently on many of my travels. I've been seeing a lot of these fresh mexican food places popping up all over the place. There are several different chains such as Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Rubios, etc.
But here's how I modify their options to get the healthiest meal possible...
Usually the menus are full of burrito and taco options, but I really don't want the wheat or corn tortillas since those are just useless carbs and calories without much nutrition value. Plus, most wheat wraps are made with hydrogenated oils (trannies), so that's another reason to avoid them.
So what I do is ask the worker to make me a special plate where I'll just pile up a few of the meat options, tons of veggies, beans, salsa, and LOTS of guacamole. I always decline the rice too since that's also a pretty useless carb with no real nutrition value and doesn't add much on taste either.
This pretty much confuses the worker every time since this "mixed plate" option isn't really on their menu, and they don't know what to charge me, but I just ask them to charge me for whatever they think is fair.
Considering this is fast-food, this is about the healthiest option that packs the most nutritional punch without overloading on useless carbs. Plus, it's pretty damn tasty too! And it also satisfies the appetite for a long time since it has plenty of healthy fats from the guac and fiber from the beans and veggies.
Consider giving this little trick a try next time you're out and about and want to find a healthier fast food option.

2 Teas possibly more powerful than green tea?
But there are 2 other teas I'd like to give honorable mention that could easily be just as healthy, and possibly have even more potent health benefits...
the only thing is that they simply have less studies on them, so they don't get as much publicity as green tea.
